Fugue No. 7 in Eb major [2'30"]

$250.00

Fugue in E-flat major, BWV 876, was written for organ in J.S. Bach’s "The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II.” It has a ‘tonal answer’ and primarily stays within the Tonic and Dominant for the duration of this 70-bar fugue. In only two instances does it go beyond these keys; namely, in the second episode, where it passes temporarily to C minor. It is for 4 voices and its orchestration was inspired by Edward Elgar’s treatment of another Bach Fugue that Nathan’s orchestration similarly captures in spirit and excitement. Scored for 2 Fl, 2 Ob, 2 Cl, 2 Bsn, 4 Hn, 2 Tpt, 3 Tbn, Tuba, Timp, 1 Perc, Hp, and Strings.
