Personent Hodie is a traditional Christmas carol first published in the 1582 Finnish songbook Piae Cantiones, a collection of 74 Medieval songs with Latin texts. Since that time, the songbook has continued to be used in the repertory of cathedrals in popular songs throughout Prague and for clerical uses in Finland and Sweden have been studied for generations. The text from the carol is used within the original melody and harmony employed. It is written for acapella SATB choir.
